Privacy & Logging

Server configuration

Depending on how you configured LinkAutocorrect, it may collect personally identifiable information (PII) of users that encounter 404 errors. You should configure LinkAutocorrect to not collect personal data since it does not contain any method for users to consent to their personal data being collected. LinkAutocorrect currently doesn't offer a log rotation feature. This means that the PII which is collected, will be saved indefenitly until it is deleted manually.

If you want to be absolutely safe, choose the following option during setup or set the configuration values as explained below:

Config option Config value
privacy_retain_useragent disabled
privacy_retain_userip disabled
privacy_retain_params false

Warning: IP rate-limiting will not work if privacy_retain_userip is set to disabled.

You should disable LLM link correction if the page names on your website contain personal information (e.g. example.com/admin/customer/info_at_example.com) or if they are adult-themed
(e.g. example.com/blog/i-stabbed-him).

Request logging

LinkAutocorrect logs requests just like any webserver does in the background. The difference is that LinkAutocorrect presents this information in a way that helps website administrators identify trends while hiding background noise caused by bots and scrapers that are always active on the internet.
Here is an example of what a request log could look like:
